LaGrange Voting DistrictsLaGrange Voting Districts: why do they matter?by Eugene BestWhat is your district?Do you know what district you live in? If not, just take a look at “Where to Vote” on our website. By looking up your name you will see what district you are in and where to vote. Do town districts matter?Which District you live in can matter a great deal. Residents of more densely populated south west LaGrange (District 3), for example, has problems and concerns (e.g. water, sewage) quite different from residents living east of the Taconic Parkway. And elected LaGrange officials make decisions affecting all LaGrange residents. But there are only five Town Board members; there is only one Town Clerk. They must deal with the problems and concerns of all LaGrange residents. And they can't know, as people living there know, all 14 Voting District problems and concerns. That's why your LaGrange Democratic Committee is set up to have a District representative from each of the 14 Town Voting Districts. So you and your District's problems and concerns will be addressed. District representatives neededHave you thought of becoming a District representative? It would be great to have more than one representative from every District on the LaGrange Democratic Committee. Frankly, we want and need more representatives. So why not volunteer to become a Committee member? Members attend a monthly meeting, learn more about LaGrange's problems and potential, and do whatever else they can to shape LaGrange's future development. For more information about what members to and about becoming a member, please contact Ed McCormick @ 845-485-1502 or email him at lagdems@lagrangedemocrats.com.
