LaGrange Democratic Issues: More than the Town of LaGrangeby Eugene BestYour LaGrange Democratic Committee focuses its attention and work on LaGrange itself: the way Town governance has been a one-party monopoly all too long, the new problems facing our schools and roads, our water supply and ever-rising taxes as housing developments pop up like mushrooms and open spaces vanish. We trust you are concerned with these issues too. But the Committee is also aware of and involved with wider issues, on the County, State, and national level: the way the County legislature is almost deadlocked, with the chairman more a chair of the Republican caucus than of the Legislature itself; the way Republican hopefuls already are circling Kirsten Gillibrand and John Hall, our newly-elected Dems in Congress, fund-raising to defeat them next election; and how the ten all-male all-white Republican candidates for the presidency harken back to Ronald Reagan for their appeal to their constituency, rather than face the disasters of America's continuing bleeding in Iraq, of America's health care crisis. Your LaGrange Democratic Committee is doing all it can to help its elected officials at the County, State, and national levels. And help those running for offices at those levels too in the next elections. We hope and trust that you will too. That's why we invite you to take part in our Committee activities and would welcome you to join us.
